Frequently asked questions
Q I felt really relaxed in the session, but I didn't feel hypnotised, why not?
A. The feeling of hypnosis varies between individuals. Some feel relaxed, others find their minds become very active. It is not essential to feel hypnotised for therapy to be effective.

Q.I am worried that I will lose control or become stuck in a trance. Can that happen?
A. No, remember that you are awake, and in control of what happens. My role is to help you through the process but it requires your cooperation to work effectively.

Q. Can you 'cure' me of my fear of spiders in one session?
A. It is likely that one session would help you feel more relaxed, but addressing the root cause of your problem is likely to require  between six and twelve sessions.

Q. During the sessions I found myself thinking about my childhood. Surely that's not important now I am in my forties ?
A. That's  a good question, but remember that you are the same person. Some of these early influences will still have an impact on your thinking, feeling and behaviour. This is very normal - and expected!

Q. Do you use hypnosis for pain relief or physical conditions ?
A. Yes, but there are some qualifying conditions. Pain or physical conditions should be investigated by your GP in the first instance, and you will be advised to see your GP before receiving hypnotherapy.
